Warrantless Wiretapping

In the event of the september Terrorist attacks, Former President Bush, executively ordered the NSA to wiretap communications between U.S. citizens and suspected terrorists. If Bush did anything right as the president, I would say that was it. Doing that will not completely prevent terroists attacks, but it will help assist in keeping them less likely to happen. If we decided on that before the attacks on the World Trade Center, I believe that we could have prevented those attacks, but since we din't, I think it is still better now than later.

I do believe that wiretapping will prevent future terrorist attacks in America. However I feel that it will not prevent every bad event from occuring in the future. It is definately something that needs to be done to prevent these horrible incidents occuring like that of 9/11 from happening again.
It may be an invasion of privacy however I believe that what you dont know wont hurt you, it will only help you and all Americans.

The intended purpose was fantastic, preventing terrorism is not something to take lightly and we need to do anything and everything within our power to prevent another attack on our home. My only problem with the wiretapping is how easy it can be abused, allowing the government another way to arrest people for something that has nothing to do with terrorism or national security.

Wouldn't you rather invade someone's privacy than have another terrorist attack this time in the city you live in. Privacy to me is important, but the thousands of lives that are taken by these massive events are of greater importance. A terrorist could be your neighbor of 5 years. You have no idea what groups that people are affiliated with these days.

Look I am all about stopping terrorism worlwide but when you start using these warrantless wiretaps on American citizens it is a different story. Freedom of Speech is one of the American staples, what would become of America if the government knew everything that was going on? Would we be as free as we think we are? What I do not understand is that a president had to resign his post because of wiretapping but now the president can wiretap whoever he wants! I was talking about Watergate and Nixon, tell me that is not funny. LOL But ask yourself this, whats stops this power from being abused? Is there like a warrantless wiretapper official somewhere in the White House looking at this? I do not think so until something changes I will firmly stand against this infringdment of our rights!
