" Fugitive Aliens"
ICE police rounding up immigrants on old database. This database is said to be 25 years old. James Taylor who is with the Depatment of Homeland Security says that they are trying to update the database by next year. America's number of Fugitive Aliens have jumped to 620,000. Does America really know how many illegal immigrants are in this country. Why is America rounding up these people now? ICE police are rounding up people in their homes, who are not dangerous. Do you think America is right for their actions. What about the people who already been here and pay taxes? what about the people who became citizens? Does this make America look irresponsible, and why is their database so backed up?

I think my opinion is probably different from many people on this issue. I myself was born in Spain (my dad 100% Spanish, my mom from New Jersey). I have dual-citizenship to both Spain and the US. I dont think the government should be able to control and say who can stay and who can go. A huge percent of peoples ancestors came from other countries to the US so they could provide more for their families. And thats just what these "illegal aliens" are doing.
But would you volunteer to increase your own income tax to make up for those who don't pay any?
We agree that America is indeed a nation of immigrants, but that is exactly why we shouldn't have to compromise when in comes to illegal border crossing. If there were no legal options perhaps illegals would garner more sympathy, but there are. Also the fact that the US has received so many legal immigrants indicates how desirable a place to live it is; if the government simply stayed out of it, as you suggest, it would be akin to swinging open the floodgates. With no control over immigration we would also give up control over who takes advantage of things payed for by taxes. Even in hypothetical cases of minimally skilled aliens choosing to sign up and pay taxes out of the goodness of their hearts, they would be in an extremely low tax bracket, and pay little to nothing in taxes, yet stand higher chances of collecting unemployment and welfare, much unlike many legal immigrants.
Then of course there's the millions of Americans already here who are unemployed or going to lose their job in the near future, of which many have families also... surely they don't need competition from millions more workers that are similarly skilled.
Keep in mind that illegal immigrants do pay taxes, they just don't pay income taxes (or payroll taxes if they are paid under the table). They all pay sales taxes, gasoline taxes, cigarette taxes (if they smoke) and various other taxes.
