What do Hugh Hefner, Jennifer Aniston, Jerry Springer, and Mr. Spock have in common?
They've all weighed in on the 2008 presidential race and given their two cents (plus a little extra) to their favorite White House hopefuls.
Scores of Oscar-winners, sitcom actors and high-powered studio executives have opened their wallets this year and given much-needed campaign cash to several candidates, according to a CNN review of reports filed with the Federal Election Commission over the weekend.

This article raises the question exactly how can our leaders preach family values when people like Jerry Springer and Hugh Hefner are paying for there campaigns
Celebrities endorsing candidates can obviously be a good or bad thing according to your own morals.
The main problem with Celebrities endorsing these candidiates is that now people (mostly younger) will be influenced by the celeberties choices. I think it's great to back up a candidate, but there is a point when a celebrity can go over board.
I do not think celebrities endorsing candidates is worse than a company endorsing one. What does a celebrity get in return for their contribution. I am willing to bet that a company is more likely to benefit from giving money, money for a favor later. Government contract, a tax break, or some other benefit. Also, if someone decides who they are going to vote on because a celebrity endorses them, isn't voter education the real issue, not who is giving the money. Lets educate voters rather than insulting the people who are trying to make a difference in this country/supporting THEIR favorite candidate.
I think that it really doesn't matter if a celebrity helps out or not for a candidate. People are getting up in arms because Hugh Hefner is backing a Presidential candidate. Wow! Why is this a big deal? Far worse people back Presidential candidates all the time. What do people who have cheated on their spouses, beat their children, rapist, and murderers all have in common? They all probably will give their two cents about a Presidential candidate as well. Just because they are a celebrity doesn't make it that much bigger of a deal.
Who are Mr. Spock and jerry Springer sending thir money too? Good chance it's not my candidate..hahaha
and Hugh, come on. He's a joke too. seventy something with three twenty somethings. It's not the dream. It's sad. But no celebrity is going to sway my vote.
I mean, I love rock and roll....seriously I was in some rock bands and had long hair..ha..
but every year Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam is up there saying some crap I don't want to hear on stage. And Neil Young too...and he's funny too...cause he's Canadian!!
anyway, I wont name anymore. Point is, celebrities don't tip the scale.
