How come certain costs from the war have been hidden? Are the real figures being hidden so that politics will not look bad when it comes time for elections? I feel that the U.S. does not have the money to support this war. At the same time, I do support our troops who are putting their lives on the line for us. I also feel that the government should report truthful figures to the public. We should know where our tax dollars are going and also the borrowed money from other countries. This is part of the reason the American dollar is loosing value.

There are a lot of costs that have been hidden. It would probably be too hard for the average person to even begin to understand what is spent where and why. I'm not saying that hidden costs are right, I agree that we should be able to have access to see what is going on.
What your asking for, is for the government to spell it out to us. We know how much the government has spent of our own money and I'm pretty sure the amount borrowed can be accessed by the public. The interest, casualties, and other costs could easily be estimated in your head. After all that is an overall estimate all the way up to 2017 if the war even exists up to that time which I highly doubt. The cost isn't really hidden as so much as it is undermined by our government.
I am not sure the government even knows where all the money goes some of the time. Companies like Wal-Mart have "shrinkage" or merchandise they loose, gets stolen or they can't account for. The U.S. government is bigger than Wal-Mart and a lot more shady.
Yes this is true in a lot of cases, but can't be on such a large scale. If it were they would do something about it. Thieves down in Bradenton, Florida a few years back happened to target Wal-Mart repeatedly. Wal-Mart eventually started stepping up their security. Just about every day for like 2 weeks you could pull up at Wal-Mart to see someone get arrested.
Talk about a shady institution, Wal-Mart is right up there with Uncle Sam! there's a documentary about how nasty they are in business practices. According to the film, this company makes more than some South American countries annually! Their buying power is the reason they are able to have such low prices, but is it really worth it? There is even evidence on this film that Wal-Mart targets smaller Mom-and-Pop stores to drive them out of business so that they have virtually no competition which is done via exclusive contracts with suppliers. It really sounds like monopoly to me. Way off topic though, sorry. boo Walmart.
i agree with ronald.
i think there is large amounts of money that the U.S. can't even "account for".
quite sad, actually.
