WHAT REAL CHANGE LOOKS LIKE

Throughout the last couple of weeks I have continually heard some of my die-hard Republican friend’s state that President Obama if more of the same. I can’t help but to correct some of what the right wing media is filling my friend’s minds with. He has already pasted arguably the most aggressive stimulus package ever implemented. I like the rest of the world would have a hard time telling you what the outcome will be, but I do know that he has bet his political future hoping to fix our economy. Unlike the stimulus package that was signed by President Bush, this bill will actually create jobs. Within just the first few days of his Presidency he made two executive orders. One was to close Guantanamo Bay and the other was to stop the use of legal torture by the United States of America. These two actions do not completely fix our foreign policies, but it is great start to fix our damaged image across the world. Obama has yet to be judged on the outcome of his presidency, but his actions to put our country on a new course is anything but more of the same.

You are correct about Obama bringing change, but its not the change we need. Obama's stimulus package has too much wasteful spending, and our economy would be better off in the long run without it.
The "right wing media" is nothing to complain about considering the only right wing media is Foxnews, the left wing has five major stations backing them.

I have a hard time understanding why projects that will employ American workers could be considered wasteful spending. I will agree that some of the spending will cater to some of the Democratic politician’s agendas that helped write the bill, but it all invest in America. We have spent the last eight years spending a trillion dollars in another country that has done nothing but weaken our military. It’s time that we let go of our ideologies and do what is best for our own interest. As far as the media goes, both parties have their own self-interest networks. I don’t find it a bad thing, but I think everyone should keep tabs on both sides.

Its not that the right wing media is filling your friends mind, its that he can think for his own and see whats going to result from this bill. So much of the spending in this bill is just to please the interest groups that supported him that it alone proves that he is just another politician. As far as the media goes, Fox is the only station that is biased more right, but the liberals have so many other stations and publications that it most of the information people hear has the liberal ideology in mind.

I agree, Obama is the change that we need. After the political and economic damage that Bush and his administration has caused the country, in our circumstance, I feel as though nothing could be better. Even though Obama is making small changes, I think we all have learned, that it's the small changes that starts the big changes that our country needs.

I don’t consider a change from democracy to socialism a small change, but that’s just me. Obama may seem on the outside like a miracle worker or the new Jesus. His actions prove that he like most politicians has no backbone, and his actions are motivated only by his political ties. It really is a shame because he brought hope to so many Americans, and I am afraid that the next four years will prove to be a huge disappointment.

Obama is definately the change that we desperately did not need at this time. Our economy is in the dog house and the government is trying to spend its way out of this reccession. The only way to truly create long lasting jobs is through private capital. The government can spend money and create short term jobs through building roads and bridges. But what exactly happens after these workers complete their jobs? Where do these workers go next? Wall street can and will prevail, to much government will backfire in the end. The government will create so much debt that nobody will want to buy our T-bills anymore, not even up and coming powerhouses like China. Ultimately we need to limit government intervention in the economy and let it heel by itself without spending "phony" money that is going to debase our currency even more in the long run. Obama is the best example of wealth destruction.
