I'm a little confused on this one. Maybe Mr.Q can help me out.
I don't think illegal aliens should be able to own property. I don't think ANYONE who doesn't pay taxes should be able to own property.
I'm not sure with the way this one is worded which way it's leaning but that's how I feel on that one!

Illegal aliens to pay taxes. The only taxes they don't pay are Social Security and Payroll taxes if they work off the books. This still pay sales, gas, property, cigarette and many other taxes.
This amendment is very vague is how it's written and in reading it I was confused myself. I know that items in the Constitution tend to be vague as we've learned in class, however in seeing that property doesn't have to be just land but something as simple as a shirt makes this amendment a little iffy.
I guess in saying that I then think about how different states could interpret and inforce this amendment. Would they make it so illegal aliens ineligible for citizenship can't own anything? A little out there but it's something to consider when deciding which way to vote.

I am against this amendment. The main issue I have with this amendment is that it could infringe upon the american syatem of property rights. We live in a country where private property is at the sole discretion of the owner. Who are we to tell them what they can and cannot do with their property. If a white citizen wants to leave his property to an alien from another country, then who are we to stop them. It is their property and it should be their decision.

The wording is confusing. I feel anyone who is here illegaly and does not pay taxes has no rights. I still don't understand why illegal aliens get free medical and free schooling when we can't.

I know that every case is different but in the majority of cases, illegal alliens should not have any of the same rights that we are still fighting for. There are so many people in the United States without any form of health care. I dont think we should be handing it out to people who are not allowed to legally be here.

I agree with Robert. My boyfriend broke his hand playing softball one night and we went to the emergency room because it was the only thing open. A majority of the people there were illegal aliens. Since they don't have healthcare how do they pay for the emergency room bills. And they aren't cheap. My boyfriend's hand was broken but they couldn't do anything for him and he was still charged $800 with insurance!
