Barack Obama will be speaking to the 2009 graduates of the University of Notre Dame. The University of Notre Dame is a Catholic university. There is much controversy about Obama speaking at the University of Notre Dame because of conflicting views of abortion between Catholics and Obama. The Catholic church argues that abortion is murder and Obama stands behind the idea that abortion is the right of a woman to choose. This pertains to the class POS1041 because it is about the conflicting ideas about whether abortion is a right in the United States. My opionion is that Obama shouldn't be chosen to speak at the University of Notre Dame if the Catholic church disagrees with where he stands on abortion.

I think that as the president, Obama has every right to speak at any univerity regardless of his beliefs or the beliefs of the Catholic church. What is he going to be speaking about? I doubt the president is going to Notre Dame just to tell eveeryone that abortion is right and Catholics are wrong.
