Bush, McCain and Obama taking cheap shots at eachother

Basically when I read this article in CNN today it reminded me of the bickekering we did in highschool about eachother. Bush made a roundabout comment that "someone" feels that we can now sit down and reason with terrorist and they'll realize that they were in the wrong for past events. Obama took it as a cheap shot and fired one right back about being closeminded about reasonable situations. Then McCain joined in by adding in his own two cents into the conversation. I do believe that there are more important issues for these GROWN MEN to debate. Issues such as what is truly going to happen with the gas crisis, what is going to happen to the environment, etc...

The white house clarified today that the "someone" that Bush was referring to was President Carter when he was talking to Hamas. I personally agree with the school of thought that thinks terrorists shouldn't be talked to or bargained with. Most of these radicals wouldn't negotiate anyways because of their firm beliefs in a radical interpretation of the Qur'an.

Here's the quote from Ed Gillespie, counselor to the president...
"We did not anticipate that it would be taken that way, because its kind of hard to take it that way when you look at the actual words. ... There was some anticipation that someone might say you know its an expression of rebuke to former President Carter for having met with Hamas. that was something that was anticipated but no one wrote about it or raised it."

Political campaigns seem to have
always been a situation where the
candidates would try to debate what
their perceptions of the issues of
the campaigns were even if they
were not in a formal debate. This
is one of those situations. After
the two major party nominees have
been selected, we may finally get
a formal debate on all of the
important issues of the 2008 elections. Amy Stoutamire, POS1041,MTW 5:30-7:30 PM
