So I was listening to T.I. while doing my little workout, when I glanced up at the television. I did not believe my own eyes. "Obama's Licenses for Illegals leads to Endorsement". I was so shocked I almost tripped over top the treadmil.
I like Obama and even agree with some of his issues. He's not my personal choice for president but I'd kick it with him. I only caught the end of the news so when I got home I looked into it.
New York Governor Eliot Spitzer had proprosed this for his state and apparently Obama supported the idea, even after the outrage it caused for Spitzer. Could someone please tell me why he would do that other than trying to get votes at the last minute? Why would he support that? He can't be that desperate!
How is somebody going to get a driver's license who isn't even a legal citizen?!? If they can't even follow the law to get into the counrty, why would they follow the laws of the road? My Impala is not about to become a victim! Can they read a yeild sign? They can't even go to the local chevy dealership and upgrade their ride because THEY DON'T HAVE CREDIT because they don't pay taxes!
There are also bigger issues with giving illegals licenses. With a driver's license someone can get into just about any government building...they could get a passport..all sorts of things. With terrorism going on shouldn't we be a little more careful who we give these things too..especially people who aren't even suppose to be here?
It would be a very clever way of keeping tract of illegal aliens. They will drive anyway so why not use it to our advantage.

ReplyDeleteKeep tract of them for what? Unless they are going to keep tract of them to get them out what's the point? The police can't even find wanted people that never leave my county..you mean to tell me the government is going to keep up these folks?!
KP, yes they can keep track of them to get them out. Sometimes most times it involes a process however. Plus you will have these people on file and infromation on their families tie and potental were abouts in the future. With that in mind if they commit some type of crime then you can pull up the information needed.

ReplyDeleteYou know, I think that driver's licences shouldn't be handed out to a good portion of the countries legal citizens, much less give them to people who don't belong here. We need to stop helping people who are here illegally and start helping the people here who are legal. Oh, on the flipside, if immigration hid at the BMV and after an immigrant applied for a licence, nab them, I'm all for that.

ReplyDeleteI agree, from what I hear, apparently it's not hard to be a citizen here, although my friend who just returned to Mexico after getting her citizenship as an American said it was "ridiculous and stupid." She said she would have rather taken a test and studied for something that would have, "given me vaulable information on what to do if I'm sick and can't afford health insurence, how paying my taxes work and how I can finance for a house."
ReplyDeleteI don't see how this should work for illegal citizens, they need citizenship, they need to pay taxes, they need all these things that, like every other fly/American, tangles you into the spider web system that is government.
Many of us are suject to great logical fallacies when it comes to this issue. Many people don't really have a clue as to what it takes or how easy it acually is to become a citizen. For example my Father-in-law, has worked hard in this country for over 44 years now,40 of those years as a business owner. Many of you have injoyed the fruits of his labor litteraly. His crews pick the oranges for "Tropicana" . He does not have a crimenal record or any thing, they just TAX HIM HEAVY and MAKE HIM JUMP through RED TAPE, because they see him basicaly as just a TAX PAYING SLAVE.

ReplyDeleteHe is a legal, just not a citizen. One other thing you might note Kristen, he does not make the Orange juice. He owns the equipment that picks the fruit and he employes the labors.
