The Big Squeeze
The economy is on a down fall. Due to high cost of gas and food sales going up, many U.S. citizens are not intrested in the smaller things in life anymore such as ipods(mp3 players), or even a small cup of star bucks coffee. Big distrubutions such as these are losing money. Star bucks even increased the amount of a 20 oz. cup of coffe to $1, not mentioning target and other stores. But there seems to be one thing Americans can't seem to get enough of (regaurdless of what their budget is) which is Sony's HD-G Tv's. Will the economy ever be back on the rise.

The high gas prices can quite possibly be seen as a good thing. With global warming, high gas prices means people have to stop and think. People have to learn how to do less useless driving, more carpooling, and possibly buy a better fuel efficent car that is safer for the enviornment. For most Americans, as I can tell, it takes a stronger push to actually get something positively effective accomplished. Although the price of milk is ridiculous, I will give you that.
Starbucks decreased the price of their coffee because of competition. McDonalds is giving Starbucks a run for their money. McDonalds offers coffee for a doller and in the near future are going to offer other types of beverages simmiler to those of Starbucks. I also see higher gas prices as a possible good change.
Ipods, and mp3 players are not in season right now. Sales increased around Christmas. people are still intrested in the "smaller things in life" The economy change has mostly hurt those working for minimum wage. The U.S. is in a time of regretion but we will pull out of it.
Everyone "regrets" being in a recession right now (if we are indeed), but the economy will stabilize again. I am sure some people will still value the small things in life, especially with Apple's new Macbook Air. Bush and the House of Representatives proposed their economic stimulus package today. Now it is up to the Senate to approve or not. If it goes through, a lot of taxpayers will get a tax rebate. Only the future will tell if this will boost the economy.
It's calling the Domino effect. Because fuel is used to transport almost everything.
No doubt, our American economy is going into a recession. People keep making the same amount of money or even less while prices of products are slowly going up. Milk, gas, and coffee are just a few examples. I have yet to move out, and don't know how it would even be possible without support from parents or others financially. Working a job and managing to pay rent, utilities, gas, insurance, cell phone bill, food and other common bills just seems impossible making minimum wage or even above.
Our economy needs help, and we need a leader to bring forth policies to change the way things currently are.
